FIRST LINE CONTEST

Writing at its best! Enter our writing contest with winners announced in April and October. Winners will be published on the announcement date; however, individual winners will be contacted before that date.

First Place - $100, story at online magazine, print magazine and a complimentary copy of our print magazine your story appears in.

Payouts will be made within two weeks after publication via business check.

 

First Line Contest Submission Guidelines

1. Stories must be less than 500 words. Any story exceeding the 500 word limit will automatically be disqualified.

2. We accept submission payments online. Your entry must be made no later than the final day of the contest. Any entries entered after that date will be disqualified.

3. Each entry fee is $10 USD, and you may only enter one story per contest.

4. Entry fee is payable through PayPal. (see below)

5. The work you submit must be your own. If your submission is a reprint, the original publisher must be given credit. That information will be collected at the end of the contest, along with your bio.

6. Entries are judged based on content, originality, style, and technical skills. Proofread your work before submitting!

7. Write about any topic, any genre, using our chosen first line, "Today seemed to move at the speed of life.". (No Children's Stories Please)

8. Judging will be done by the Mamazina editors.

9. International entries are welcome, provided PayPal accepts your currency for conversion.

2.  When submitting to the contest, please use the PayPal button and submission button below.  You must specify to which of the four categories you are submitting.  The four categories are:

        a. Poetry

        b. Creative Writing

        c.  Art

        d. Essay
