Mom writers who have something to say
If you have a vision that feels like it’s tangible, it’s probably almost real. If you have a dream that is stuck in between stages, it’s near insanity to quit.
Here we are at our own juncture, and we’re invigorated with some very exciting changes to Mom Writer’s Literary Magazine, which is now, as you see, Mamazina.
Paula Schmitt, our founder and publisher, started this magazine years ago with the hopes of bringing the words of mothers, for mothers, to mothers. Then the economy changed. What a perfect world it would be if dreams ran on will and caffeine alone.
As Editor-in-Chief, I feel fortunate to still be writing to you in our Fall/Winter online issue, the pre-cursor, transitional issue before Mamazina goes to print in Spring 2010. Joy Rose of Mamapalooza and Paula Schmitt joined forces and a new publication was born. A publication that, come Spring, will have not only essays, poetry, profiles and reviews like always, but a section for mom-made products as well.
Our staff, format, and mission remain mostly as before. We’re still listening to the writing which cracks open and illuminates motherhood, reading into the universal attributes which unite us.
If you have something you want to share with the rest of the world, you’ll do what it takes to breathe life into it.
That’s why we’re all, still, here.
Happy Holidays!
Samantha Gianulis
